Development Director The Girls Place of Gainesville, Florida would like to announce the hiring of our new Development Director, Laura Javidi. Since moving to Gainesville in 2002, Laura has held the Development Director position at the Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County and is also a Group Fitness Instructor at Gainesville Health & Fitness. With over a decade of experience in community relations, marketing, fundraising and non-profit management, Laura will be a key element for the Girls Place implementing their new vision and role within the community. "The entire Girls Place organization is beyond excited to add Laura to our team. Laura shares her time with her two daughters, while continuing to teach Group Fitness and Cycling Classes and now adding her new position at the Girls Place.

Vice President of Resource Development & Special Events Laura Javidi was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago until moving to Gainesville eleven years ago. Currently she is our Special Events Coordinator and Chair of the Doug Johnson & Donnie Young Reeling for Kids Fishing Tournament and Passport to Rio Benefit Gala for Kids. Laura also serves as the Club's Education Director and is responsible for managing several important grants. Besides working full-time at the Boys & Girls Club, she has been teaching kickboxing and circuit training classes at Gainesville Health and Fitness since arriving in Gainesville, and is a full-time mother of two. Laura has coached soccer for several years in Newberry and more recently became the assistant coach of the girls' soccer team at Oak View Middle School. She feels strongly about volunteering and throughout the year you'll see her helping with other charity organizations fundraisers and special events.
Laura Javidi, new Program DirectorAugust 12, 2002, we introduced Laura Javidi, as the new Program Director at the Boys and Girls Club of the Wiregrass.Laura attended Northwest Missouri State University where she earned her BS degree in Recreation/Physical Education.While in Chicago, Laura and her family made a personal effort to collect food from local grocery stores which they distributed to the homeless during the cold winter season.Laura is married and has two children, her and her family moved to Dothan a year and a half ago.For the past seven years she has been an at home mother and volunteering within the school system and the community.Laura brought her management skills and active lifestyle to the Boys and Girls Club to better enhance the great programs that were already offered and created some new and exciting activities for the young people of Dothan.Laura will be missed as she moves away from Dothan with her family effective December 11, 2002.

The Dothan, Ala., site will be managed by site director Laura Javidi of the Boys and Girls Club of the Wiregrass and will use the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Highland Oaks facility as its host facility.
"During the school year, we have between 100 and 150 kids," said Laura Javidi, director of education and technology for the Boys and Girls Clubs."In the summer, it's 150 to 200."For the summer, the clubs' hours are expanded to full days - 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. - from the usual after-school hours during the academic year. "Parents say they need all-day care," Javidi said.
