Laura FordPAW PAW - Laura Ford, Ph.D., R.N., CNP, a nurse practitioner with Bronson LakeView Family Care in Mattawan, has earned a Ph.D. degree from Western Michigan University's program in interdisciplinary health studies. She
also has received the Patricia Lee Thompson Dissertation Award for excellence in her

...Ford, who is also an adjunct lecturer in the University of Michigan's School of Nursing, is a certified menopause clinician and a certified women's health nurse practitioner.She
has more than a decade of experience as a family and women's health practitioner, with extensive experience in perinatology, obstetrics, professional staff development and healthcare management. In addition to her Ph.D., Ford holds a master's degree from the University of Michigan and a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University.Among her professional affiliations, she is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Michigan Nurses Association.
"I pursued a Ph.D. partly because it was a personal goal and also because I needed it for my teaching position at the U of M
said."But this was also a way to focus professionally on issues that relate to research and policy in healthcare practice and education, especially in women's health."
In 2005-06 Ford
participated in the University of Michigan's
Medical Education Scholars Program (MESP).She
was one of only seven healthcare practitioners in the state to receive the honor that year."I want to continue to be an advocate for the role of advanced practice nurses," she continued.
"Studies have shown that the more highly educated healthcare providers are, the more likely they are to be aware of current research and use evidence-based practices.Ultimately, this leads to better patient care."Bronson LakeView Family Care
