Latreese Cooke, Executive Director
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Latreese founded MEEELJ in 1991 and opened offices in 2004. Latreese created and developed all the programs that are offered by the organization. She is an alumni of the University of Texas, Austin Community College and most recently the University of Phoenix. Latreese is the proud mother of three children and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include shopping, reading, singing and!
Professionally, Latreese has worked several state government offices in operations management, public speaking and lobbying. She has extensive experience in activism and consultation for civil rights of disadvantaged persons throughout the country. Presently, she is involved in multiple Re-Entry Committees throughout Texas, is a Legislative Policy Reform for Incarcerated Persons Chairperson and serves on many other committees.

Our Executive Director Latreese Cooke recently had the honor of being a guest speaker at a student rally at Cedar Creek High School. Latreese had the opportunity to speak to students about the organization and encourage them to make the right choices. She also received special recognition for her efforts.

Latreese takes a call from a mother whose son is currently incarcerated.
The picture is of Executive Director Latreese Cooke and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.
Although it was for a gathering that stemmed from the loss of a political icon in the Austin community, Latreese Cooke attended the services and spent time with several local dignitaries Congresswoman Waters and Ambassador Sidney Williams.
Our executive director, Latreese Cooke, had the privilege of hearing Maya Angelou, the most popular speaker at the daylong conference.
