is the Weekend Anchor at the News on 6.She joined the team in April 2007, but she is no stranger to Green Country.She was born in Tulsa and still has plenty of ties to the area.Latoya has a dual degree in broadcast journalism and public relations from the University of Houston.She
also studied Spanish at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain.During her
has covered news at the local and national level.
In 2001, she
landed an opportunity as a Field Producer for BET Nightly News
in Washington, DC.She
started on September 10, 2001 - the day before terrorists attacked the United States.In addition to reporting the aftermath of 9-11, Latoya
covered numerous reports on Capitol Hill and the President's State of the Union Address.She
also moderated a forum on the "war on terrorism," which aired live on C-Span.Latoya
later left BET to pursue a career in front of the camera.The switch meant moving to Central Texas.While in Waco, she
reported on President George W. Bush's many trips to his
"Western White House" and covered breaking news.
That experience prepared her
to work in a much larger community in Upstate South Carolina.There, she became a member of the award winning team at WYFF News 4.
While there, Latoya
covered everything from breaking news, to hurricanes, to the funeral of Coretta Scott King.
