"When this facility was being planned, I encouraged the staff to consider putting in a hobby room or a place where the guys could go and (use) some of the crafts that they grew up with and did during their life," says Larry Zilliox of the Alexandria Rotary Club.
With the finishing touches now on this man cave the residents living here are now free to use the facility.
"Well, some of the things that I learned when I had to put my parents into a senior facility, was that there was always things for women to do, but the men had no place to go and I think my dad would have lived a couple years longer if he
had a place to go where he
could putz," says Zilliox
"As we were putting together the various tables and equipment, a number of residents came down here and I was surprised and felt very good that this was a needed activity in the residents home," explains Zilliox
It's a needed activity not just for men anymore, but for women as well.
says, "What's been interesting is the number of gals that poked their head in and said what can we do in here and so I think the enthusiasm will build over time.
