Former Decorah resident Larry Moen, the president of U.S. Grain Storage Systems of Dike, Iowa, says a Wisconsin company owes his construction firm $1.4 million.
The Country Today, a farm newspaper based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, says Moen has said Olsen's Mill of Wisconsin owes his company the money for construction projects in Viroqua and Belmont, Wisconsin. Moen has laid off 43 of his employees because he has not been paid by Olsen's Mill. Olsen's Mill has been ordered into receivership because the company reportedly is unable to pay back a $58 million loan it used to help build an ethanol plant in Jefferson, Wisconsin. The ethanol plant has declared bankruptcy. Moen told The Country Today "Our family business is now in dire straits, and Paul Olsen's actions have severely compromised my company's ability to pay its employees and grow its business."
