, veteran group executive in charge of Peabody Energy Corporation's
Powder River Basin operations, has announced that he
will retire effective June 30.Fox
will continue his
Peabody Energy relationship through a multi-year consulting agreement.Succeeding Fox
will be another Peabody veteran: Ian S. Craig.

has contributed to Peabody Energy's success through service spanning parts of five decades, beginning in August 1962 at the Braidwood Mine.Positions included mine construction, driller, shooter, preparation plant operator, truck driver, dragline oiler, shovel operator, assistant mine superintendent and mine superintendent.Fox was named director of operations for the Rocky Mountain Division in 1978 and moved his expertise to the then-emerging Powder River Basin in 1982, where he served as general manager for North Antelope Coal Company.He became vice president of Powder River Coal Company in 1984 and was promoted to president of Powder River Coal Company in 1989.Fox
has managed Peabody Energy's leadership position in what is now the nation's largest and fastest growing region.
