As the sun set on the Pacific Ocean, November 22nd, designer and UCLA Extension instructor, Larry Drasin, treated our student chapter to a remarkable tour of the Shade Hotel and Strand House, two buildings in Manhattan Beach that he designed.
Designer Larry Drasin and his associate Michael Gentile provided our student chapter with a truly inspiring and intimate afternoon.
In addition to incredible design, Larry
also shared his
business acumen with us.
described the design and building process with both the property owners and city government, and shared his
insight and knowledge on successful space planning.
Noting that "designers have a big responsibility in how we shape the future", Larry
left us inspired and better prepared to emerge into the design world.

The space, designed by Larry Drasin of Drasin Design, Inc. is vintage industrial with warm, casual interiors offering a number of classic accents, and features a prominent lounge area with Chesterfield leather sofas, exposed brick walls and moveable doors that, when opened, fill the space with breezy ocean air.
