G7 is named for its gray scale calibration technique and the seven ISO ink colors it requires. Publishers Press worked in conjunction with its ink supplier to test different ink measurements until optimum results were achieved. Though the theory of gray balance is not new to the printing industry, the G7 process gives printers the tools and guidelines to more efficiently achieve and maintain that balance, which results in even more consistent color reproduction. "We as printers receive qualification from IDEAlliance and GRACol," explains Blanton.
