Lana Weiss Brown- Beginning her communication experience at the age of 3, Lana Weiss Brown was a member of the Red Cross Troupe of Illinois, a touring company of performers who visited disaster relief efforts, hospitals, shelters, prisons and orphanages. Her professional career began at 11, when her voice and scripting talents were broadcast nationally in network television venues. Her voice can be heard in radio, television, and film as well as audio books, CDs. commercials, and narrations with symphonic orchestras. She holds both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Drama and Speech Education from Illinois Wesleyan University, Northwestern University and National College of Education. Today, Ms. Brown coordinates the Chicago Urban Education Program for the College of Education at Michigan State University in liaison with Chicago Public Schools. She is also is adjunct professor for Vanderbilt University in Chicago's Internship in Human Organization and Development. Her writing achievements have been honored by the National Association of School Boards, the U.S. Department of Education and Library of Congress. She is the author of DocuFest, an online curriculum initiative by the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago which received national acclaim by Oprah Winfrey. Her credentials include membership in the Channel 2 CBS Blue Ribbon Grant Panel, Illinois Arts Council, among many civic boards. She has consulted for the Tribune Company, Kraft, .AT&T, among many others. Brown serves on the Civic Education Project Advisory Board of Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development and consults education and corporate training and is a Communications Trainer for the National Education Assn and the Illinois Education Assn. For AT&T, she produced the national media award winning program HASTERTWATCH with former House Speaker Dennis Hastert and received the National Cable Television Assn. Award of Excellence. She is the principal of Lana Brown Communications Consulting, a speech and communication consulting firm which services corporate and nonprofit training and development for management, human resources, and marketing. Brown is a member of the Union League Club of Chicago, and maintains a rigorous keynote and seminar speaking schedule throughout the United States. She is the IWPA 2009 Communicator of Achievement Award recipient.

Lana Brown is the recipient of the 2009 Communicator of Achievement Award from the Illinois Woman's Press Association (IWPA). She will represent Illinois as its nominee for the National Communicator of Achievement Award from the National Federation of Press Women. Brown serves IWPA as its First Vice President and Program chair.
Brown is a lifelong educator who has written and produced award winning publications, grants, curricula, and marketing materials. Her spoken word can be found in numerous audio books and broadcast news voiceovers, and alongside symphony orchestras. She is the owner of Lana Brown Communications, a speaking and writing consulting firm, which has serviced AT&T, Kraft, the National Education Association, the Museum of Broadcast Communications, among others.
She has taught secondary and collegiate levels and is currently an adjunct professor for Vanderbilt University and coordinating Michigan State University College of Education's internship program with Chicago Public Schools.
Lana accepted her award on May 16 at the Union League Club of Chicago.
