grew up in a matriarchal society near Lugu Lake in Tibet, a region believed to be the inspiration for "Shangri-La.
In childhood he
absorbed the Buddha-dharma from his
father, who was also a lama.
traveled to India and was ordained as a monk in the revered Sera Monastery

endured social unrest, poverty, and hunger, all of which propelled him to seek ultimate liberation.

Geshe Danche Zunpo.
Geshe Degree (equivalent to a PhD) in 1997, he
traveled to Singapore and Taiwan.
In 1998, he
accompanied the abbot of Sera Mey University
Khen Sur Rinpoche Ngawang Teecho, and became his Tibetan-Chinese Dharma translator in Taiwan.
Soon he was invited by the Chinese Buddhist Association to be the resident teacher in Taiwan, where he stayed for 3 years.
In 2005 Lama Norbu
came to the United States to explore the world, meet people from diverse backgrounds, and teach the essence of Buddha Dharma, which transcends culture and ideology.
Since meeting Yuan Miao in 2007, Lama Norbu
has undergone his own personal transformation.
As Lama Norbu
explains it, the word "lama" is comprised of the syllables la ("supreme") and ma ("mother"), which when combined, mean "Supreme Mother.
