He graduated from the Elite School of Optometry in Chennai, India in 2002 and gained his MSc and PhD from the University of Waterloo in addition to conducting post-doctoral training in the chemical engineering department at McMaster University. His research interests include contact lens deposition, drug delivery and dry eye. He is a two-time recipient of the American Optometric Foundation's Ezell Fellowship.
