Mrs. Ahrendt continued to work with the State Board and began telecommuting after the birth of her son.She was active in the Tallahassee Junior League serving on their political action committee, on the board and as the chair of the 1999 Whale of a Sale fundraiser.She has served on several community boards including the Girl Scouts and Salvation Army boards.
"Volunteer work exposes you to your community -- it also gives you the opportunity to develop new skills." In 2000, Mrs. Ahrendt was ready for a change in career and began selling real estate for Century 21 First Realty in Tallahassee.She continued her work as a community volunteer, serving on the steering committee and organizing session for Wakulla Presbyterian Church.She became an elder when the church was chartered and served on the New Church Development Committee of the Florida Presbytery.She continues to serve in this capacity. In 2003, she went to went to work for the St. Joe Company as the Office Manager and Contract Administrator for the SummerCamp resort community.She worked in this capacity until being appointed Wakulla County Property Appraiser by the Governor of Florida following the untimely death of her predecessor. Mrs. Ahrendt served as Wakulla County Property Appraiser from May 2005 until narrowly losing the election in November 2006.

returned to work at SummerCamp
and was caught up in the December 2007 layoffs.
Since then, she
has devoted time to her
family and preparing for her
campaign to regain the position of Wakulla County Property Appraiser."I am ready to again serve the citizens.Wakulla County is ready to see a change for the better and hope for the future!" Mrs. Ahrendt continues to be active in the Wakulla Community participating in Keep Wakulla Beautiful; the Domestic Violence Task Force; the Friends of Wakulla Springs and currently serves as Treasurer for the Wakulla Lions Club.
In what spare time she
continues to play the piano and in recent years, has begun playing the guitar.She
also is a passionate reader and is currently engrossed in reading non fictional accounts about World War II. Her
