During the summer following her first year of law school, Ms. Connolly served as a summer law clerk at the Department of Justice's Criminal Division in the Eastern District of New York.She had the opportunity to observe many hearings and trials.Furthermore, she worked closely on an environmental case investigating a party's toxic dumping.Ms. Connolly gained experience in the areas of criminal law and procedure, as well as federal environmental laws.
Ms. Connolly participated in the Interdisciplinary Environmental Clinic at Washington University in St. Louis where she was the student attorney representing a coalition of environmental groups.She ran client meetings; wrote a 30-page comment letter to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources opposing the proposed Holcim cement plant; and spoke at a public hearing on behalf of her clients.
The following summer Ms. Connolly accepted a Summer Associate position with the Firm where she gained experience in administrative law and litigation and electric regulatory matters.She continued gaining experience in energy law upon spending her final semester of law school interning at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Office of General Counsel's Markets, Tariffs and Rates Division.While there, she took full advantage of getting exposed to the other divisions of the Office of General Counsel (Energy Projects and the Solicitor's office), as well as the Office of Administrative Litigation, Office of Administrative Law Judges and Office of External Affairs.Ms. Connolly spent most of her time working on issuing the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking addressing wind energy in open access tariffs.
Since joining the Firm as an Associate, Ms. Connolly has worked on electric regulatory matters, environmental issues, as well as oil and gas matters.She has worked extensively on analyzing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's rulemaking proceedings stemming from the Energy Policy Act of 2005, and in turn, on drafting comments for the Firm's clients.Ms. Connolly is currently monitoring the Electric Reliability Organization and mandatory Reliability Standards rulemaking proceeding.She has also advised clients on how to conform to the Standards of Conduct for Transmission Providers.
