Kaland-McMasters Appointed to Financial Accounting Standards Advisory CouncilKrista M. Kaland-McMasters, CPA, Partner and Chief Practice Officer for Clifton Gunderson LLP, has accepted an appointment to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC), the operating arm of the Financial Accounting Foundation, which oversees issues surrounding the profession's financial accounting and reporting standards.When Kaland-McMasters' one year term begins on Jan. 1, 2007, she will join 32 other leaders from business, the financial community, the accounting profession, education and government who will provide differing points of view and insights on a wide range of issues affecting the financial accounting industry.Members are chosen for their demonstrated knowledge impact of financial accounting and reporting upon the effective functioning of capital markets.Based in Norwalk, CT, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) is made up of 16 members appointed by the Financial Accounting Foundation.In addition to her role in firmwide management at Clifton Gunderson, Kaland-McMasters is a member of the AICPA, where she has served on a number of high level national committees.Currently, she is a member of the Center for Public Company Audit Firms Executive Committee, which is responsible for promoting improvement in the quality of audits of public companies.She is also active in the Illinois and Wisconsin CPA Societies, and has acted as team captain or team member on over 70 peer reviews through the AICPA and on a firm-by-firm basis.In 2003, she contributed to Promoting Your Talent: A Guidebook for Women and Their Firms, edited by Nancy R. Baldiga and published by AICPA.Kaland-McMasters is a frequent presenter at audit, accounting and management conferences.She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois.

Clifton Gunderson Partner Kris Kaland Named Woman of Influence Kaland won in the Corporate Executive category.In addition to her Assurance Services leadership position, Kaland has been the Partner-In-Charge of all of the firm's human resource functions since January 2001.Kaland has been instrumental in changing the strategic direction of the HR department and oversaw the written policies which are called "Priority One."She also supervised the launch of a very successful corporate-wide peer mentoring program.Kaland's contributions extend well beyond her duties at Clifton Gunderson.She has served the accounting profession through her involvement on many American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) national committees.These include the Accounting Standards Executive Committee (1991- 1994), the Securities and Exchange Commission Practice Section Peer Review Committee (1994-1997), and the Quality Control Inquiry Committee (1997-2003).Kris is also an active member of the Illinois and Wisconsin CPA Societies, and was profiled in the May 2003 issue of The Wisconsin CPA.Kris was also a contributor to the 2003 AICPA publication entitled Promoting Your Talent: A Guidebook for Women and Their Firms, edited by Nancy R. Krista M. Kaland has been named Chief Practice Officer at Clifton Gunderson, the nation's 12th largest CPA firm.In this new role, Kaland will maintain strategic leadership over all Clifton Gunderson's practice areas.Commenting on her new position, Kaland stated, "I'm excited about the opportunity to lead our practice initiatives across the firm and to carry out the goals that will continue Clifton Gunderson's growth as a leader in the profession." Upon graduation from the University of Illinois, Kaland joined Clifton Gunderson and was quickly promoted to senior manager in 1982.Kaland has also been the Partner-In-Charge of all of the firm's human resource functions since 2001.She has been instrumental in changing the strategic direction of the HR area - which the firm calls "Priority One."
