"We have a number of reasons for installing a new solution," says Kirk Wilkenson, Colt's director of financial shared services.
"One is that the current one is obsolete."The new platform will replace the Ericsson billing system that Colt
used when it launched commercially in the early 1990s.Ericsson
no longer sells that particular system, so Colt
was required to upgrade in some way. Colt
says that the old Ericsson system has limited the launch of new services."We could do fantastic offerings but couldn't do the billing," says Wilkenson
, who adds that the Comverse system will let Colt offer new services more quickly.
The new system reflects a more standardized approach to tariffs, which Colt
will have to carefully introduce to keep end-users on board."We will ensure a minimum impact on customers," says Wilkenson
