RED DEER, ALBERTA--Kimberly B. Walker, President and CEO of Sat-Tel Corporation (CDNX: SAJ) is pleased to announce the successful delivery of 4 Internet Routers to the Canadian Coast Guard under an R&D contract signed earlier this year.
The 4 Canadian Coast Guard
vessels currently testing Sat-Tel's technology obtain Internet speeds of up to 500 kbps, nearly a 10,000% increase to previous connectivity solutions. The remaining 52 vessels using older technology are limited to a speedof 4.8 kbps.
The Canadian Coast Guard
is testing Sat-Tel's Satellite Internet Router in field conditions by integrating it into the ship's computer network to function as an Internet Gateway while at sea.The Internet outbound IP traffic is sent to the Sat-Tel server farm using the ship's existing satellite phone's 4.8 kbps data port and compression provided through the Sat-Tel Router. When received by Sat-Tel, requests are processed and return traffic is routed for delivery via satellite.
"Marine markets are not the only industries that stand to benefit using Sat-Tel's satellite router," explained Mr. Walker
."We are testing several Oil & Gas applications where high-speed connectivity for remote workers is limited or non-existent.Otherapplications include commercial touring buses; long haul trucking, commercial & recreational RV, remote scientists and rapid communications deployment for military & government".Walker
said, "Sat-Tel is proud to offer a truly economical solution that brings high-speed Internet to areas and applications previously thought the exclusive domain of slow and expensive data communications".
