is married and lives at Sedgebrook, Lincolnshire.
Dr Steel amongst her many other qualifications gained the Certificate in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Certificate in 2002 and has been a volunteer emergency doctor with LIVES (Lincolnshire Integrated Volunteer Emergency Service) since 1996.
Last year she
attended emergency incidents at the rate of more than one per week.
Dr Steel works with The Event Medicine Company for which she attends a wide variety of events each year, including large Air Shows at RAF bases and the Farnborough International.
At these events she undertakes a variety of roles, from acting as Forward Incident Commander to being a doctor in the Casualty Clearing Centre.
Dr Steel is a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer of BASICS, the British Association for Immediate Care (the national body which embraces all the immediate care schemes); she is also in the Teaching Faculty of BASICS.
