KEVIN IVESOffice of Emergency Services TechnicianKevin was born in Truckee, Cal and has lived exclusively in Calif., except for a short period of time when he and his parents lived in Arizona.He attended Solano Community College where he became an Emergency Medical Technician and upon graduation, was hired by Solano Ambulance.While working at Solano Ambulance, Kevin moved up to working "first call" (working with a paramedic), became a Field Supervisor, and developed and implemented the drivers training program.With a little prodding from some friends, he got his novice (KB6HCR) and then tech + (N6QGV) amateur radio license.During the summer of 1989, a work-related auto accident injured Kevin's back and caused him to be disabled from his job.He started a consulting firm that specialized in safety training for his largest client, American President Lines in Oakland.The main focus of the job was coordinating the Emergency Response Team for the Corporate Headquarters.During the Asian Stock market crisis, APL downsized the team.A part time job started in 1999 with OES turned into full time job in 2002.At OES, he works with the Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) ham radio program, and was part of a team that designed and operates the mobile command vehicles.He has been a EMT for close to 20 years and got his SARTECH II in 1999.He has been involved in Emergency Services for over 20 years.He is married and lives in Sonoma.
