Love, love, love Verde. I care a lot about my hair but there are very few places in the Philadelphia area that do a great cut without making the customers feel like a nuisance. Kevin and his team are amazing. The salon was modern and comfortable and the whole staff made me feel welcome. As a natural redhead, I've never put any color in my hair at all. But the grays have been showing a little more than I'd like, so I went to see Kevin. He made me feel so comfortable every step of the way and I couldn't feel happier with my hair. Kevin Gatto, native Philadelphian is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Verde. With over eleven years of experience, Gatto has achieved such prestigious honors in the industry as being named a Network Educator for the New York based Bumble and Bumble product line (a position which kept him in direct contact with the trend setting stylists and educators there) and earning the honor of National Technical Specialist for Wella International in 2004. Gatto has also served as a Top Educator for Davines - traveling the world (Rome, Florence, Toronto and Amsterdam to name a few) in pursuit of the latest hair and beauty trends and bringing them back to his clients and those he trains. He is currently a senior member of the newly launched Creative Force color team for TIGI Colour - training colorists throughout North America on the latest color techniques and trends.
Kevin's reputation as premier stylist and educator also extends too many of the nation's most
fashionable salons. He has trained stylists at the Mark Garrison Salon in New York City, a premier Manhattan style destination frequented by Ashley Judd, Sandra Bullock and Matthew McConaughey. Gatto has also trained colorists at the new David Evangelista salon on trendy 5th Avenue in New York City.

"When we started planning, we thought about what our philosophy would be," he says. "Green was something missing in this market, something that agreed with us personally, and now people are seeking us out because of it."

He designed his 1,300-square-foot eco-friendly salon with low- or no-volatile organic compound paint, bamboo floors and recycled wallpaper.
"Everything from the flooring to the paint, the lighting and the product choices are all-natural and sustainable," he says.
Like his counterparts, Gatto says making the shift to green came easily. "The designers gave us eco-friendly options that were also budget friendly," he says. "We also tried to keep everything as local as possible to cut down on fossil fuels."
Verde may soon become one of the first zero-impact salons in North America, thanks to a new partnership with its product line, Davines, and Lifegate, an eco-friendly conglomerate in Italy. Gatto says the salon will donate a percentage of its proceeds to Lifegate, which will then use the money to offset Verde's emissions by planting trees or purchasing solar or wind power. Sustainable Products available at Inglewood Beauty Bar
Gatto has also promised incentives to his clients for going green. While no one's taken him up on it yet, he's offering "a couple hundred bucks" toward the down payment to any client who purchases a hybrid vehicle.
Verde, which means "green" in Spanish, is also a drop site for old curling irons and hair dryers.
"If they turn their products in to us," Gatto says, "they get a 15% discount on new products and we take care of all the recycling. If the hair dryer they drop off is in good condition, we'll donate it to a women's shelter."
He says the feedback has been terrific. "It's not just about good business marketing," Gatto says.
