Slape, Brady Named Deputy Commissioners at Texas DOI
Doug Slape will become deputy commissioner for financial regulation, and Kevin Brady was named deputy commissioner for agency affairs. Brady is moving into a new position that will oversee government relations and serve as the agency's primary liaison with industry associations. Brady is currently deputy chief of staff, where he focuses on policy coordination and strategic planning. He began his career at TDI in 1984 as a financial examiner conducting on-site solvency examinations of insurers. He also has served as associate commissioner for licensing and registration. Kevin C. Brady - Associate Commissioner Licensing Services, Texas Department of Insurance
Kevin C. Brady serves as the Associate Commissioner for Licensing Services of the Texas Department of Insurance. Licensing Services is responsible for licensing all insurance companies, HMOs, insurance agents, adjusters and various other carriers and entities that desire to enter the $100+ billion Texas insurance market. Kevin is also a member of the management team for the Department's Financial Regulation Division, which regulates the solvency of insurance companies and other carriers operating in Texas over their entire life-cycle. The Financial Regulation Division is made up of four areas: (1) Licensing Services, (2) Financial Analysis, (3) Examinations, and (4) Rehabilitation and Liquidation Oversight. Kevin also serves as the legislative liaison for these areas. Kevin began his career with the Department in 1984 as a financial examiner, conducting on site solvency examinations of insurance companies. He is a Certified Financial Examiner. Kevin has held a wide variety of positions during his career at the Department.
