Dr. Keum Hwa Choi, is an associate professor and a section chief of the Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota (UMN). Dr. Choi practices Traditional Eastern Veterinary Medicine for small animals (mainly dogs and cats), large animals (mainly horses and occasionally cow) and raptors (eagles and hawks). Recently, she practices Sa-Am Traditional Korean Medical acupuncture particularly. Dr. Choi teaches an Integrative medicine elective course including acupuncture, food therapy, medicinal herbology, Chu-na (hand manipulation in Traditional Korean Medicine), neutraceuticals, and Eastern Medicine theory and works as a course coordinator. Dr. Choi also provides senior rotation course elective for students from UMN and other states. Dr. Choi gives many lectures and presentations internationally and domestically. She also does research and has been published in peer reviewed journals and proceedings. She works on the editorial board of American Journal of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and Tang(International Journal of Genuine Traditional Medicine). At Present she serves as a vice president at the AAVA.

"Due to the seriousness of the disease, acupuncture was the only medical option, but I didn't have great expectations for this cat," admits Keum Hwa Choi, DVM, the study's co-author who is an assistant professor of integrative medicine at the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine in St. Paul.
