Crisis Management Coordinator • Ken Rost, CHMP Crisis Management Coordinator Ken is a veteran of over 22 years in the public safety, hazardous materials, and emergency management professions. Over his career he has reached many milestones in the interest of service to the community. These milestones include his role of hazardous materials technician, multi-agency coordination commander, emergency manager, and incident commander. Ken's broad experience has taken him into a mix of incidents and service including Hurricane Katrina, Colorado wildfires, snowstorms, and numerous hazardous materials incidents. Ken has been involved with other critical safety and security issues including risk assessment, vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and impact analysis. Ken is a Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner and has served in numerous roles contributing to his vast knowledge. Currently Ken is a Governor's appointee to the Hazardous Materials Voluntary Certification Board. He is also chairman of the local Emergency Planning Committee, board of director for National Association of SARA III Program Officials representing region VIII (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana), Operations Committee Chairman for the Regional Hazardous Materials Board of Arapahoe and Douglas County. Ken serves as emergency operation committee advisor to the fourth largest school district in Colorado. Ken has partnered to completely revise, update and publish the new Emergency Operations Plan for the district. Collaborations also include The Emergency Preparedness Guide for the citizens of Douglas County, Incident Management Guidelines and Standards, standard operating procedures, annual operating plans, and emergency response plans not only for internal guidance, but within the Denver Metro region as well. Ken recently served as a consultant to the Arapahoe/Douglas Hazardous Materials Response Team (ADHMRT) mobilized during the 2008 Democratic National Convention (DNC) held in Denver, CO. Professional memberships and associations include the Colorado Emergency Managers Association, International Association of Emergency Managers, and National Fire Protection Association. Ken is trained through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Emergency Management Institute, multi-hazard planning for schools, homeland security planning for local governments, hazardous materials site operations, hazardous materials chemistry, exercise design and Incident Command. Ken trains a multitude of entities in the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System, as well as hazardous materials operations and response
