The Board of Education of the Mount Pleasant Central School District
is pleased to announce the hiring of Keith Schenker
as the Principal of Westlake High School
effective July 1, 2010.
appointment was confirmed at the March 25 meeting of the Board of Education.
A Mount Kisco resident, Mr. Schenker is currently the principal at Glen Cove High School on Long Island, a position he has held for the past four years.
Mr. Schenker will bring 10 years of experience in school administration to Westlake High School.
Previously he served as the principal of Harrison High School and Hendrick Hudson High School.
Prior to that he was the assistant principal at Hendrick Hudson.
He holds a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and a Masters in Social Studies Education from The Teachers College at Columbia University.
He earned his Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
"Mr. Schenker appears to be highly collaborative with a vision aligned to the mission and goals of the Mount Pleasant Central School District," wrote Superintendent of Schools Dr. Susan Guiney in her recommendation letter to the Board.
Dr. Guiney highlighted Mr. Schenker's outstanding work with administrators, students and staff at Glen Cove and promoting student achievement and advocacy that made him an outstanding candidate for the new Westlake principal.
