Torre said Jaden Oxendine, of 55 Can Road, was rescued by his grandmother, Christine Oxendine, of the same address, when he fell into an above-ground swimming pool in the backyard of the home on Sunday. According to Torre, Oxendine and another relative, Ashley McEachin, did not notice when Jaden and a 4-year-old child went outside. Torre said McEachin helped with administering CPR on Jaden. Torre said the child was transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Oxendine's mother told police that around 11 a.m. she noticed her daughter was not in her room. Oxendine is light skinned with freckles across her nose. She has shoulder-length dark brown hair and brown eyes. She is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs between 130 and 140 pounds. A photograph was not available at deadline today, but it should be with the story at robesonian.com. Ronald Chance, Torre said. Knight appeared in District Court on Thursday and was placed on house arrest and returned to his home, according to Torre. According to Torre, after church Knight took the child to another location and that is where the sexual assault occurred. Torre did not want to disclose the location. "Once the child was home, she told her mother what happened and her mother called the Sheriff's Office," Torre said. Torre said Knight was not immediately arrested because it took time to conduct the investigation and analyze evidence. Torre said Knight will turn 90 years old on Sept. 21. Torre said Knight does not have any "major" criminal history.

Ronald Chance, Torre said. The girl was spending the night at her grandfather's house in Maxton on Wednesday when the sexual assault occurred, Torre said. Torre said it was common for the child to spend the night at her grandfather's place because she lives nearby. The child normally slept on the floor next to her grandfather's bed. The night of the rape the girl awoke and went into another bedroom, said Torre. When her grandfather awoke during the night and saw she was no longer beside him on the floor, he assumed she had gone home, Torre said. The child was awakened by Locklear - a friend of the family - on top of her, according to Torre. The child "got away" from Locklear and ran to another relative's house, according to Torre. Torre is the Sgt. Kathy's last name. That is not the little girl's name. That name hasn't been released. Please read the article carefully. « LivingLifeToTheFullest wrote on Friday, Aug 06 at 02:37 PM » To EdenEliezar The girls name wasn't published. Torre is the name of the Sgt. of Robeson County.
