She earned her BSN PHN at California State University, Los Angeles. Her primary focus has been home health care and hospice where she has had to become somewhat of a "jack of all trades. She has been a field nurse, nursing supervisor, staff educator, and a QI (quality improvement) specialist for a variety of non-profit and for-profit home health and hospice agencies throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties. For over 3 years, Kathy was the Guide to Nursing at About.com. The Nursing site closed in November 2007 when About.com combined it into a site for all health careers. Many of the articles Kathy wrote for Nursing.About.com have been transferred to this new site and it's companion blog, The Nursing Site Blog. Kathy is the author of several books for health care professionals and consumers.
