Kathy Kudler, founder and president of Kudler Fine Foods, has assembled a team of directors to guide her organization to success, both internally and externally. Kudler Fine Foods is a gourmet specialty food store with three different locations in the San Diego metropolitan area (University of Phoenix, 2009). This paper will elucidate some elements of Kudler's organizational culture and discuss how success is very dependent on their strong organizational structure. The leadership qualities that Kudler portrays, based on organizational performance, are very unique and reflect heavily on employee performance and motivation. There are a few characteristics of organizational change occurring internally and externally at Kudler. Like every other company in the fine food industry, Kudler is assessing its readiness for change in multiple aspects of their organization. Culture Since 1998, Kudler has been servicing the southern portion of California in more ways than one. The success of the company is achieved mainly through their employee's distinctive values and strong operational culture. The environment, in which Kudler consists of, is unlike any other food store chain in the world. Their mission, as a corporation, is to provide their customers with necessary related needs in an unparalleled consumer atmosphere (University of Phoenix, 2009). They provide the finest of services and are fully equipped with many enriched domestic and imported products. Kudler takes pride in the services they provide to their customers and with the strong beliefs and values of their experienced, helpful, and knowledgeable employees, they strive to be the best no matter the circumstances.

Kudler Fine Foods was founded by Kathy Kudler in 1998. Kathy once was a Vice President of Marketing of a defense contractor; Kathy traveled constantly and endured the pressures of corporate life. Kathy ultimately wanted something different, something less stressful and gourmet cooking seemed to relieve the stress for her so Kathy decided to embark on an opportunity on an upscale epicurean food shop in La Jolla. Kathy opened her first store in June, 1998 and within the year the store was profitable. Kathy later opened two more stores by 2003, one in Del Mar and Encinitas and now Kathy is looking at expanding and opening another store. Kathy is the president of Kudler Fine Foods and her primary function is to oversee the three stores. Kathy is responsible for the planning and strategizing, however, each manager or department supervisor has the responsibility for his or her team. Whether at the managerial, individual, or team level, the management process involves planning and strategizing, organizing, leading and controlling and decision making. (Gomez-Mejia-Balkin, 2002). Kathy has an Administrative Assistant who works directly for her and her responsibilities are to provide administrative support to the company president, scheduled appointments, assist in the recruitment process and answer phones. The Administrative Assistant performs all the basic clerical functions needed by Kathy. (Apollo Group, 2007). Kudler has a store manager for each store; Harvey Stephens is the Director of Finance and Accounting.

Harvey prepares reports of estimated future revenue and costs; this will give Kathy a picture of where Kudler is headed. (Apollo Group).
