It is with that end in mind that led Kathy Bernu to create the gorgeous Memorial Tear and make it available through her website.
...
This happened to owner Kathy Bernu following the loss of two people she loved.
She was already a jewelry designer and stole time in the early mornings to do drawings, but this particular morning she realized she had been mindlessly drawing tears. She immediately equated the tears on the page with those which had been endlessly spilling down her cheeks for so long. She took a portion of another design and placed it over the tear, and the result left her crying once more.

This good mood was dampened, however, when Katie and I got to Portland.

As far as purchases go - one copy of Gladiator on DVD ($20), one copy of the new NIN remix album ($10), a new copy of The F Word from B/N along with some magazines ($20something), and a copy of Incredible Crisis for Kate ($20), which is an extremely Jappy PSX game - in a good way.

Well, unfortunately, another week with Kate has come to a close. We had a wonderful time, and here's the recap.
Kate got in at 6:30ish on Tuesday night; amazingly, her luggage had been lost.
...
That evening Kate and I were on our own - we stuck around in the room, made a Denny's run for some cheese fries, and just had a good time. Say no more.
...
Today was check-out, along with a trip home (Stopped at the Carousel mall), and the unfortunate departure of Kate, although her flight was delayed due to bad weather in Philly. And now I sit at home trying to catch up with everything.
Items acquired: Bubblegum Crisis Complete DVD Set (3 discs with 8 episodes of old-school anime), Being John Malkovich DVD, Monty Python's Flying Circus DVD Set 2 (Episodes 7-13), Powerpuff Girls "Heroes and Villans" CD and magazine, Scrabble CD-Rom.
Thanks to Kate for putting up with everything my family threw at her, my family for not throwing EVERYTHING at her, and my parents for dealing with the situations that didn't involve us.

Kate was up here for the first week, in which we spent a lot of time down by the lake, saw Road Trip, went to the Ithaca Festival, went to the ever-exciting Memorial Day parade, walked the Glen while being surrounded by Mennenites (sp?), watched Taxi Driver and Jawbreaker, and just generally enjoyed ourselves.
The ride on the bus to Kate's house was marred with a little stupidity on the part of the bus people, but that happens. At her house, we played Playstation, watched Eye of the Beholder and Drop Dead Gorgeous, fell asleep watching Snow Falling on Cedars, went and saw MI2 in the theatre, ate a lot of Taco Bell, went to King's Dominion, had my birthday dinner at Josef's, and did a fair amount of shopping.
All in all, I'd say it was a very good trip. We both got a lot of time to unwind, we had a lot of laughs, and hey, Kate even found religion.

On Wednesday, both my parents and my girlfriend Katie came back. Katie and I had a wonderful time doing just about nothing. We hung out like we always do. She went back at 5 PM today.

1/3 4:50 PM EST (1/4 6:50 AM JST) - I finally clear the screening, having been in a longer line than Katie and opting to go to the bathroom before queueing.
...
I opted for the Katsuzen set lunch - red clam miso soup, rice, pickles, the mandatory pile of shredded cabbage with citrus yuzu dressing, and a healthy sized portion of katsu - and a mug of draft beer; Katie went for a different set that she had hoped contained crab croquettes but instead had katsu-fried oysters. (She did not complain.) It would be hard to call this anything other than my ideal Japanese meal.
...
We then started to backtrack, finding that a doll shop that Katie had seen earlier - Doneunyo - was now open. Katie has been collecting Japanese dolls for few years; an opportunity to go to an official Blythe dealer was not one she could resist. (Junie Moon, her go-to destination, had closed for the holiday week.) She walked away very happy.
We stopped into a few SEGA World arcades, where I learned that Katie has a crippling addiction to UFO Catcher machines.
