Kathy A. | Kathy's Story | Ortho Stories - Kathy
Olathe Health System, Inc. - Kathy A., Orthopedic Patient "I tripped and fell at home." "I wish it were a better story," states Kathy Aasmundstad, clinical research data manager and former operating room nurse, "but it isn't. It was just one of those clumsy home accidents." She instinctively reached out to break her fall. Kathy says, "I knew instantly my wrist was broken." She and her husband went to the emergency room at Olathe Medical Center where Kathy was immediately treated for pain and quickly seen by Dr. David Steinbronn of Johnson County Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Kathy had worked with a number of surgeons from that practice during her years as an OR nurse. She had personal experience as well. One big concern to Kathy was her ability to continue with yoga, "I can remember the day that I broke my arm, lying in bed thinking, 'okay, which poses can I do, which ones can't I do' because of the cast." Kathy had begun yoga classes nearly a decade earlier and it had become very important to her life. Now with her wrist moving freely, Kathy is once again focused on a yoga challenge.
