It was with heartfelt disgust that I read the Sunday column by Kathryn Swindle, chairwoman of the Jackson-Madison County Library board.
Rather than refute point by point the laundry list of half-truths, distortions and insinuations put forth by Swindle
, allow me to make a few brief points.
First, the oft-repeated charge that the library is not open on Sunday has a rather easy explanation.A few years ago, the library was open on Sunday. But the cost of operation outweighed the extra day of use.If Swindle
would check the past minutes of the library board, she
would know this.
