Katherine has 15 years experience in the telecommunications industry in the areas of operations, engineering, product development and management. She was named as one of CableWorld's Top 50 Women in Technology, as well as one of CableWorld's Most Powerful Women - the Second 50 in 2006. Presently she is Sr. Director of NCAR Operations at Comcast, overseeing national Tier 2 repair for Comcast Digital Voice. Prior to joining Comcast, she successfully directed the development, project management and deployment of cable telephony and support processes as Vice President of Telephone Operations at Bresnan Communications. She oversaw all aspects of the company's telecommunications and transport services and was responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing maintenance on all leased and company-owned transport and IP transit facilities for advanced services, including high-speed data, analog and digital video, high-definition video, and digital telephony. Previously, was General Manager of Montana Advanced Information Network, a regional fiber-optic network, and also held prior positions in the industry at Onvoy, Mid-Rivers Telephone Cooperative, and Sprint/United Telephone.
Katherine is interested in being a mentor because she enjoys working with and supporting people who have the initiative and drive to expand their knowledge and skills, and to enhance their abilities in areas they wish to grow. She feels she can make a difference, especially in the areas of developing leadership skills and building relationships. There is nothing more rewarding than teaching and inspiring others.
Katherine has not been a part of a formal mentoring program, or been a mentee in a formal program; however she has mentored many people throughout her career - providing support and guidance to them in identifying career goals, teaching them and enhancing their skills. You make everyone aspire to do better by your example" is perhaps the most profound compliment of many she has received from her employees, employees in other departments and executive teams. n her leadership philosophy, she believes building relationships is extremely important. She feels as a leader it is very important to create an environment that is fair and balanced and fosters the ability to build relationships to work together. Candor is extremely important in a healthy working environment to ensure success of employees and the business.
