Kate Thompson - Board Vice Chair
With a diverse portfolio in commercial design, construction, project management and communications, Kate Thompson brings her strengths of project development to the Board. Kate is currently the Director of Development for the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) and oversees all development for CMLC, including the East Village Project. Prior to this role, she worked with Sahuri and Partners Architecture Inc. as a project architect and with the University of Calgary as an instructor. Kate moved to Calgary from Winnipeg in 1999 and has been a strong advocate for helping Calgary grow since that time. In her free time, Kate enjoys exploring the Rocky Mountains and running along the beautiful banks of the Bow River.

Kate Thompson, a graduate of the Master of Architecture program at the Faculty of Environmental Design, was recently appointed VP Projects at Calgary Municipal Land Corporation.
Kate Thompson, recently promoted to vice-president, projects at CMLC, is at the centre of the East Village project. She is a transplanted Manitoban and graduate of the Master of Architecture program in the Faculty of Environmental Design(EVDS). In her role, she manages architectural controls for East Village, ensuring all plans for new development align with CMLC's vision for the neighbourhood.

Kate brings a great depth of experience in construction and project management, having participated in the delivery of complex building and infrastructure programs including: the delivery of the SUNCOR administration building in Fort McMurray - a $300 Million corporate facility, and the expansion of the Red & Gold Gym at the University of Calgary - a $4 Million building upgrade. Kate was also the Project Architect responsible for programming the new $400 million Trades and Technology Complex on the SAIT campus. Along with being a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary where she teaches Design Studio One, Kate is a mother of two and enjoys running along the Bow River. Through her teaching and practicing of Architecture, she continues to highlight the importance of a well-built urban fabric and supports projects which strengthen Calgary's urban spaces.

Kate Thompson is the Vice President, Projects, for Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC).
Kate leads the Projects Team in delivering the master plan vision for East Village and the Rivers District. Currently, Kate is leading development of the city's New Central Library, overseeing the project management team while working closely with Calgary Public Library, City of Calgary, project consultants and stakeholders. Kate holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Manitoba, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Calgary. Kate is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Environmental Design.
