Karrie Clay, a professional clinical counselor at Marietta College, said the college population may need additional support but it's important not to forget that a person of any age can become suicidal.
"College students are certainly a high-risk age group, but all age groups can be impacted," she said. Clay was part of a group of local people who took part in Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation training last month and may help get the coalition formed. "I think any sort of education and increased awareness can help with prevention," she said.

"We'll talk about false IDs, violations of Ohio law and how to look for intoxication," said Karrie Clay, a counselor at Marietta College."If we reduce the high risk for drinking it not only benefits the community but our students as well."If the session is well-attended, it will likely begin to be offered at least twice a year, Clay said.
