Karin Valentine, owner of Angelfish Inn at 324 Buchanan St., agrees with Neuwirth on the loss of parking.
"I am thrilled that the under-grounding of the electric and the street beautification is finally underway," Valentine said. "I think the streets look amazing, but I am concerned with the loss of so many street spots. I believe giving back a few spots and losing a few planter boxes will not adversely take away from the 'look.'" Valentine said she thought each street would lose two to three parking spots and street-end parking, but other business owners on the pilot streets informed her that more than 50 percent of parking spots were eliminated. She believes a compromise can be reached to keep more parking while still having the "lovely trees."
