Karin Swift - Co-Vice-President
Karin has worked in a wide variety of roles in both community and government settings, across a number of key areas including: women's issues, advocacy, disability, housing, mental health, futures planning and tertiary education. Karin is currently employed as a Project Worker for the Ready to go project, the NDIS Participant Readiness Initiative project of Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN). Karin has presented nationally and internationally on key gender and human rights issues on behalf of Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA), including co-delivering training with the Australian Human Rights Commission to women with disabilities and other stakeholders in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2012, and representing the Australian Government at the United Nations, New York at the Commission on the Status of Women in 2013. Karin has been a previous President of WWDA, the peak organisation for women with all types of disabilities in Australia. Karin currently serves as a Board member of WWDA and AMPARO Advocacy.

Karin Swift has been interested in disability issues for most of her life. She has been involved in various Brisbane networks for over 12 years and has a keen sense of social justice. Currently, Karin is employed as the Coordinator of Queensland Disability Housing Coalition Inc. Karin lives with her husband, David, in a lovely house on Brisbane's south side and in her 'spare' time, she is a member of management committees of advocacy organisations for people with disability in Brisbane.

Karin Swift is a member of several key community organisations and networks in Queensland involved in attempting to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Karin has worked in a wide variety of roles in both community and government settings, across a number of key areas including: tertiary education, women's issues, advocacy, disability issues, housing issues, mental health issues, and futures planning. Karin has worked as a Project Worker at Kyabra Community Association in the Building Tomorrows Together Project.
Karin is passionate about social justice and community inclusion and in her 'spare' time is involved in several social advocacy organisations in Queensland. Karin is a past member of the Management Committee of Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) and has presented many Conference papers on behalf of WWDA. As well as her role on the WWDA board Karin currently holds the following positions: Vice-President of Queensland Parents for People with a Disability; Secretary of Queensland Disability Housing Coalition; Treasurer of AMPARO Advocacy, an advocacy organisation for people with disability from non-English Speaking backgrounds in Brisbane; and, Member of Queensland Action for Universal Housing Design. Karin lives in a lovely house on the south side of Brisbane with her husband David and enjoys regularly catching up with family and friends.
