Karen L.D. Schoeve established Fast Pace Reporting in 1987 in Houston, Texas.
She was first certified in 1980 and worked in both Illinois and Iowa.
Then after getting married, moved to Denver, Colorado, for five years, finally settling in Texas in 1986.
pioneered the offering of CLE seminars independent of the state and national associations, TCRA
and NCRA in 1992.
Since then, she
has taught a wide variety of CLE classes, ranging from technical matters in court reporting to training new associate attorneys for a deposition.
In 1992, Karen
also published a textbook entitled Court Reporting in a Fast-Paced World, which is utilized by court reporting colleges throughout the U.S.
initiated the first pro bono reporting program in Texas which is still in existence today.
She became a Registered Diplomate Reporter in 1994, the first time the certification was offered, and is one of the few court reporters to hold that prestigious title. .
Karen was a pioneer in reporting, being the first reporter to do official Sports Reporting in 1992 for many prestigious golf events sponsored by PGA of America and the PGA Tour, also serving as a consultant to The Masters and The British Open.
Sports Reporting is now a thriving industry today, offering another option for court reporters.
