Karen Jones B.A., R.N., J.D.
had a number of careers and experiences before coming to the practice of law.
travelled widely and worked in a variety of jobs, ranging from construction to investigation.
Karen was a registered nurse who worked in critical care, with a focus on surgical and cardiac ICU nursing.
Following an internship with the Ontario Legislature Internship Program, Karen worked as an assistant to the Minister of Community and Social Services.
She was the Manager of the Discipline Program at the College of Nurses of Ontario, where she managed prosecutions before the Discipline and Fitness to Practice Committees.
All of these experiences have contributed to her
ability as a lawyer to assess and resolve problems.
As a lawyer, Karen has extensive experience in the areas of discipline and fitness to practise, acting as counsel on behalf of various regulated health profession colleges, including the College of Nurses of Ontario, the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, the Ontario College of Pharmacists, and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
In addition, she
has represented clients before numerous administrative tribunals, and all levels of court, at inquests and at public inquiries.
practice encompasses a broad range of litigation, including civil litigation, administrative law, professional discipline, health law, employment and medical and professional negligence.
has frequently acted as an advocate for clients on appeals to the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal
