Born in Japan, Kanna started taking ballet lessons at Nobuo Iwamura Ballet Studio in Japan when she was five.
Influenced by her
mother, a jazz musician; Kanna
added tap to her
studies at ten.
As a teen, she
performed for the largest tap dance showcase in Japan, "National Tap Day!"(1995-1997)
Kanna earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Performing Arts Education from Tamagawa University in Tokyo in 2000.
After graduating, she
continued to train in Hip Hop, Funk styles, Tap, Jazz, Ballet, House, UK Jazz fusion a.k.a. Be-Bop and more in Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Since 2001 she's
performed in street dance musicals, music videos, film and concerts in Japan.
was chosen as a choreographer for a German pop band from SONY Records during their Japan tour.
During that time she
also choreographed one of their music videos.
She was also the founder of the youth dance showcase "Family" in Japan (the youth version of Choreographer's Carnival) where she discovered a passion for the youth dance industry.
Since moving to San Diego in 2005, Kanna
has performed in various productions and taught dance classes through Southern CA.
has held positions as: Co-artistic Director of Contagious Flow Dance Company
(2006-2007) and Co-Choreographer
of Locking and Waacking routine for the Afta Shock SD(2009).
has added certified Zumba® Instructor(2009) to her
list of talents and teaches classes throughout San Diego.
appeared in the music video "Dum Dum" by Tedashii ft. Lecrae (Grammy nominated hip hop artist) and the movie "To Save A Life" red carpet event (2011).
also performed for the Micheal Jackson tribute show(2010), Evoke Dance Theater " I Speak...Dance" (2012-2013), Gospel concert (2014) and many more prestigious events.
