Kanaga began his career at Mallesons in Perth and Sydney.
Kanaga was previously a partner at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Counsel with Mitsubishi Corporation, Tokyo, and Counsel with the United Nations in Geneva.
In January 2006 Kanaga
joined the independent bar practising in the areas of commercial, corporate, banking and financial services, resources, and international arbitration.
Kanaga is a Visiting Fellow at the UWA Law School where he teaches International Commercial Arbitration.
He is on the board of editors for the Australian Energy and Resources Law Journal, and the General Editor of the Australian Resources Law Reports.
He was educated at the University of Western Australia and completed a BCL (with First Class Honours and the Rupert Cross Prize) at the University of Oxford (1990), and a Master of Laws at Harvard Law School (1992).
He was previously a director of Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration.
