Justice Sharpe has also published many scholarly articles.
He is a frequent lecturer at academic conferences and professional development seminars. He was a member of the Advisory Panel to assist the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission regarding the judiciary (2002) and a member of the International Bar Association Rapid Response Missions to investigate threats to judicial independence in Russia (2005) and Pakistan (2007). Justice Sharpe is currently President of the Osgoode Society for Legal History and President of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies.

The Honourable Justice Robert J. Sharpe will receive an honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree during the 3 p.m., Friday, June 17, session of Convocation. Justice Sharpe was a member of the Advisory Panel to Assist the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission and a member of the International Bar Association Rapid Response missions to investigate threats to judicial independence in Russia and Pakistan. He is a mentor to law students, including many at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law.

Honourable Mr. Justice Robert J. Sharpe
Robert Sharpe was formerly a professor at the Faculty of Law, University of toronto, where he wrote and taught in the areas of constitutional law, remedies, civil procedure, and criminal law. From 1990 to 1995 he served as Dean of the Faculty. He has appeared as counsel in a number of Charter cases in courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada. From 1988 to 1990, he served as the Supreme Court's Executive Legal Officer.
