Prior to joining the American Bar Association (ABA) as Director, Grassroots Operations/Legislative Counsel, Julie had her own law practice during which time she served as the University of Florida's Washington Representative.

served as the ABA's Director of Grassroots Operations and Legislative Counsel for civil legal services (including Legal Services Corporation
funding and medical-legal partnership legislation), labor and employment law, science/technology law, and civil rights issues.
As grassroots director, Julie personally recruited members to actively participate in the ABA grasstops program and built "ABA Day in Washington" into one of DC's most successful lobby days.
As AALL Government Relations Director, Julie worked with members and chapters to develop advocacy initiatives and institute best practices.
focused on government transparency, privacy, net neutrality, digitization, and appropriations for the Government Printing Office, Library/Law Library of Congress, and state, court, and county libraries.
