Dr Satur has a background in dental therapy and spent 18 years working as a dental therapist for the School Dental Service in Victoria, in health promotion with local government and, more recently working part-time in orthodontic practice.
She is currently Associate Professor of Oral Health and Head of the Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Melbourne's Dental School.

She is a past president of VDOHTA, and has been an active member of ADOHTA over many years, and is currently Editor of the ANZ Journal of Dental and Oral Health Therapy.
Julie's research has been in oral health promotion and dental and oral health therapy workforce regulation and practice issues, is widely published and has made many conference presentations.
has participated over a number of years in public oral health and in the policy area around dental therapy and hygiene practice, participating in committees and working parties for state and commonwealth governments and more recently policy debates in the USA around dental therapy practice.
She is also an executive member of the College of Oral Health Academics.
