Coming to the Vigo County Library
at Seventh and Poplar streets this month are the works of outstanding artists Julie Bricker
and Sandi Treaster.
was raised in the Southwest, living in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and California before moving to Indiana in 2000.She
always has loved drawing, preferring faces over all other subject matter.She
first art show at the age of 16 and over the years has won more than 20 awards (including Best of Show) in state fairs, festivals and juried shows.Her work has been in galleries in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Albuquerque, N.M. While residing in Arizona, she was a member of the "Arizona Cowboy and Indian Artist Association."She is a member of the Wabash Valley Art Association and an associate member of the Covered Bridge Art Association.Bricker
will exhibit a solo exhibition the month of August at the Covered Bridge Gallery
in Rockville. Bricker
prefers working in watercolor, but also does work in pastels, pencils, ink and oils.Over the years, she
has rendered more than 100 Indians of various tribes.Her
portraits of movie stars have been sold all over the world. Bricker
did her first portrait of Sophia Loren at age 14.
Johnny Depp has seen his portrait and sent Bricker
a thank-you note.
Among the stars' portraits by Bricker
are Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman and Robert Redford.
