Julian Melson, community outreach specialist for the Stonewall Institute, will lead a workshop on transgender issues.
A transgender man who transitioned about six years ago, Melson
will discuss what it means to be transgender and share his
journey to becoming a man at age 39.
"I try to incorporate at least some of my personal story.
That's what helps people to relate to the issue," Melson
"When I tell my story, I'm making it human."
will discuss misconceptions people have about the transgender community.
hopes to get more people involved in transgender issues by showing them that they don't have to be lobbyists or policymakers to make a difference.
"I think that is what I want to get across to youth.
