In a latest news, EY has just hired Judy Vas, the former MD of Goldman Sachs, to be a part of their fast-rising regulatory advisory business. The global-level business is a part of EY’s strategy to fight the market crises. An internal memo circulated in the auditing firm now sees Vas taking the responsibility of regulatory leader in financial services for the Asia Pacific regions.
It is said that she will move to Hong Kong, and continue her work from EY’s division there. Prior to this major move, Vas headed the regulatory affairs even at Goldman Sachs for about three years, starting in 2011. Before that, she had an important role as compliance head for Asia (excluding Japan) from 2004.
This is not the first time Vas will be based in Hong Kong. She previously worked in the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong for a little over seven years. At the commission, she had a senior role.
This move is among the many previous senior-level hires Ernst and Young has made in recent months. The company has made numerous such moves in an attempt to strengthen their regulatory business. Vas brings to the table years of experience and knowledge. She also has ample experience in futures and securities markets, which means she is adept in using the tricks of the trade. Her profile shows her ability to assess risk, handle high pressure, and deal with important issues in the markets.
