Background InformationJudy has been the Librarian at the Department of Educational Studies Library since 1995.
As well as managing the Library she
(with the other library staff) provides training in the exploitation of sources of information for educational research on most of the courses provided by the Department.Since November 2004 Judy
has been given the role of Oxford University
Library Services User Education Co-ordinator - see http://www.ouls.ox.ac.uk/information_skills for more information.She is a chartered member of CILIP (Chartered Institute of and Information Professionals) and has been active in the CILIP Education Librarians Group.She
represents the Library within LISE (Librarians of Institutes and Schools of Education).Before coming to the Department she was Reader Services Librarian at Westminster College (now part of Oxford Brookes University) from 1991.
That followed a year cataloguing in the Africa section of the School of Oriental
and African Studies Library
.Judy received her MA and Diploma in Librarianship from University College, London.Her
thesis was on the book hunger in West Africa.Pre-library school experience was at the Royal Society of Medicine
first degree was in English at King's College
.She grew up locally (Didcot) and went to Our Lady's Convent Senior School in Abingdon.
