As part of its vision for the District, the community passed a bond issue that led to the construction and renovation of buildings to meet today's educational standards. Dr. Pruitt led the curriculum upgrade to create more rigor and opportunities for students and expanded early childhood programming while creating a strong arts program that reinvigorated the District's proud musical tradition.
"My intentions for the School District of University City have always been to move the District forward in an ethical manner with regards to academic achievement, financial solvency and transparency. I will continue to do so in the upcoming year, Dr. Pruitt said. "I have been blessed to have education pick me as it was a great match and something I love doing every day."
Dr. Pruitt timed her resignation to allow the District more than a year to conduct a search for a new leader.

"At the end of the day I know that it's points that count as it relates to whether or not we are fully accredited but in the end it should be about educating kids and giving them a foundation that is going to help them become life-long competitive individuals; sometimes that's not reflected in a test score," she said adding "we are still chipping away."
To illustrate her commitment to giving students the best chance at learning, Dr. Pruitt has been busy reorganizing building leadership.
