Josh Leibensperger, 32
Water-resources engineer Josh Leibensperger uses computer models and statistics to bring man and nature together. An engineer for consulting firm Angler Environmental, Leibensperger was recently involved in the restoration of a stream in Buckingham County. "We changed the course of the stream to mitigate the effects" of erosion and runoff from farmlands, he says. "You add sinuosity to the curve to help the flow period - this slows the water and holds off erosion." His previous job before moving to Richmond almost four years ago was monitoring landfills. "Stream restoration is something within the field of conservation that I'm interested in," says Leibensperger, a Penn State engineering grad. "But the job kind of fell into my lap through a friend."
