About Dr. Meyinsse

Dr. Joseph Appolinaire Meyinsse was born on December 22, 1952, in Nima, a suburb of the capital city Accra, Ghana, to Madam Theresa Adormenyo and Mr. Paul Appolinaire Megnisse.
Dr. Joseph A. Meyinsse, had aspirations to travel overseas to further his studies. Therefore, after obtaining his high school diploma, he enrolled into Knoxville College, Tennessee, where he obtained his B.S. in Pure Mathematics. He continued his pursuit of higher education at Southern University where he received M.S. in Applied Mathematics and M.S. in Computer Science. He later received his Ph. D in Mathematics Education from LSU. Since 1992, Dr. Meyinsse has taught courses in calculus, geometry, statistics, and various other courses at Southern University, his alma mater. He held various positions while at Southern University; these include Professor, Department of Mathematics Chair, Graduate School Dean, Interim Dean of Graduate Studies, Department of Science/Mathematics Education (SMED) Chair, and Program Leader. He coordinated various international educational programs. Dr. Meyinsse was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Phi Delta Kappa International Association for Educators. He was affable, kindhearted, approachable, eloquent, a unifier, and ready to share. Dr. Meyinsse did what was necessary to help students succeed.
