"Please Understand Me"
Wesley Commons Assisted Living and Special Care House is pleased to announce that Rev. Joseph M. Gettys, Ph.D. will present "Please Understand Me" on Thursday, March 21st at 7:00 PM in the Assisted Living Facility Dining Room.
...Dr. Gettys, a native of York County, is an active 94-year-old retired Presbyterian pastor who currently serves as a volunteer Assistant Chaplain at Presbyterian Home in Clinton, SC and as Interim Pastor of Shady Grove Presbyterian Church.He also served as organizing Pastor of Westminister Presbyterian Church in Greenwood.
"Please Understand Me" is based on Dr. Gettys' daily experiences of his
effort to be a caregiver to his
wife who has Alzheimer's disease.He
is presently working on a book of the same experiences titled "Why Can't I Remember".His
previous works include "What Presbyterians Believe," which has sold more than 180,000 copies.

The Order of the Palmetto is South Carolina's highest civilian honor.Gettys'
only surviving sibling of 11 brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Parsons of Rock Hill, attended the ceremony Wednesday in Clinton at the Presbyterian Home where Gettys lives.
